About Me
Jennifer Dote, M.Ed, LCPC, LPCC
Owner & Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
My Philosophy
I believe therapy should be both compassionate and purposeful. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin, and therapy shouldn’t be about changing who you are.
Instead, I focus on helping clients understand themselves, develop practical skills, face challenges with greater confidence, and create meaningful change that extends beyond the therapy room.
For children, I believe supporting the whole family is an important part of the process. When parents understand how anxiety works and learn how to respond differently, meaningful change can happen at home—not just during therapy sessions.
My Credentials
I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Ohio. I work with children, adolescents, and adults through secure telehealth, with specialized experience in anxiety, OCD, phobias, ADHD, depression, and childhood anxiety-related concerns.
My approach and training are grounded in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE).
My Approach
My approach is individualized and collaborative. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula for therapy, so I tailor treatment to each client’s needs, goals, personality, and developmental level.
For anxiety and OCD, I often incorporate evidence-based approaches such as CBT and ERP to help clients gradually build confidence and learn that uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and situations can be handled without letting fear make the decisions.
When working with parents of anxious children, I also use SPACE principles to help families reduce anxiety-maintaining patterns while supporting children in becoming more confident and independent.
